Today we made it to Mobile Al and then on to Fairhope, Al to visits with Mike and Paula.
Mike is a friend from our neighborhood in Litchfield, NH. Mike and I had not seen each other since early 2000s. We spent a gracious two days with them catching up and having fun.
You can see that Mike likes his coffee as much as I do. On Monday I even got to join the morning gathering at the Page and Palette. A wonderful bookstore and coffee shop.
Monday was cool and showers. We decided to tour the World War II Battleship Alabama. It was simply amazing. Faye even found it fascinating as her Daddy was a Chief Petty Officer on a battleship (not sure which one) The several photos do not do the seeing in person justice.
Note that the day was foggy - felt like we were home in Maine on our boat.
Monday night Mike and Paula treated us to a meal at Jesse's Restaurant in Magnolia Springs
They had not been either but it had heard it was very nice.
Simply put I had a steak - an dry air aged Ribeye- that was the best - by far- I have even had the pleasure to meet. I had to share a bite with everyone - and Mike and Paula will not be long before they make a return trip - me too!
It was at great visit and we plan to see them again in around November of this year when we come through on the Great Loop Trip.
