Today we traveled 24 miles and passed through the Guntersville Lock. The ride was again very nice. There were a few clouds around and in the far distance you could see the tail end of Florence as it marches northward up the Ohio Valley and on into New England

Then about mid morning became very hot again with little effective breeze as we were again traveling in the direction of any moving air. Even though it was warm - you could still see some leaves starting to change color.

Several miles up we passed by two marvelous bluffs. The first was wonderful ........

... and the second one was amazing. It is called painted bluff for obvious good reason.

Our lock luck held again today. From the AIS info and listening to the radio, I could tell there was an up bound tow in front of us and then a couple of pleasure craft that were coming down following the passing of the barge. As there seemed to potentially be more tow traffic above the lock that might want to come down, I called the lock about 30 minutes before arriving and about 10 minutes after the PC had left the lock - which would mean we could drive straight in if they held the lock for us - which?????? .............. they did - and we did drive straight on in and then up.

This is just leaving Guntersville lock. About four miles up is the City of Guntersville. I wanted to stop and visit the city. The Alred marina across the river from Guntersville seemed like a good spot as they have a pool and some reviews mention a courtesy vehicle - so we decided on an early stop. They did have both and had a deal if you bought more than a hundred gallons of fuel you got a free night. We needed fuel anyway but we didn't know this ahead of time. As it turns out we purchased 100.5 gallons - and got a freeeeeeee night.  Yesss!!

We went "downtown" and found the Brick Grill for lunch.

After a stop at Publix we found our way back to the pool - It was wonderful and we had it all to ourselves.

Dinner on the boat was just right and we watched some week 2 Football games.

Nice day and the dark has now swallowed the day so that means its time to say ...................

Good Night and May God Bless.
