Day 130 Head of LTR to Ft Loundon Marina Wednesday September 26, 2018

The beautiful afternoon and evening turned to clouds and thunderstorms all around in the night. Heavy rain and thunderstorms followed us all the way to the marina. It stopped raining just after dinner.

As it turns out, yesterday's beautiful afternoon and evening were indeed a wonderful gift. The moon shot of last night and the few stars that I saw before retiring were soon to be overrun by clouds and rain and most concerning, thunder storms within the rain bands headed our way.

We got up around 6:30 and prepared to head back down the Little Tennessee River (LTR) at day break. By the way did you notice that yesterday the length of day light and night were the same? Our run back to the start of the LTR was just under 30 miles - so a little over 3 hours.

The rain was moderate, and the app that I have that shows lightning strikes showed it would be hit or miss (sorry couldn't resist the pun) whether we would get into the direct path of a thunder storm. But staying put was not an option either as we were in an exposed anchorage as your can see from yesterday's and today's photos.

And here are several photos of our anchorage. What a difference a day makes,eh?

We nicely got  underway and the rains came down for an hour. It stopped at times and even with the rain the ride was pleasant until we made it back to the developed area of the LTR.

It rained hard the last part of the trip to the Fort Loudon Marina that is at the upper side of the Fort Loudon Lock. It did let up for us to get docked. We arrived and found our slip that was near the office and the large onsite Calhoun's restaurant. We found out that the restaurant has a lunch buffet on Wednesdays so that's where we ate lunch. But we did get wet walking there - even with our rain jackets - but just a little so lunch was very enjoyable. A hot meal was just the ticket on this rainy day.

After lunch I walked the docks. I had to take this photo for my son Robert who is Batman (a fan I mean) But he does wear this shirt so I am not sure what the story is really.

But no matter what the truth is, I thought (and I was correct) that Rob would get a kick our of this boat name that I say will walking the docks.

So the night has crept over us once again, so it is time to say ..............................

Good Night and May God Bless
