Day 168 Pensacola Pelican Perch Boatyard Saturday November 3, 2018

The clouds of yesterday departed early last night and the temperatures dropped to the mid 40s. Today it was a crystal clear day and the sun warmed things up to the mid 70s.

The night was cold. It was in the forties and the boat is not well insulated so the temperature inside drops relatively easily and goes down to near the outside temperature. And as we don't have dock power we can't run the electric heaters. But we have power enough to charge the batteries and heat water for showers and dish washing = so we are comfortable living "on the hard" in our RV mode. And I have power to make my half a bagel and coffee - yum.

This is a another not very interesting day for blog readers - but it was a good day of work on the boat.

The first thing was to paint the bottom of the boat. The paint is to keep things from growing on the bottom. It does it several ways. One is the chemicals in the paint and the second is the paint is made to wear away and thus shed growth. I had noticed a while ago that there were thin spots showing in high wear areas along the waterline. So the need to change the propeller is a great opportunity to repaint the bottom. Got one coat on today and will put a second one on tomorrow.

The second thing I was able to do was begin to wax the hull of the boat. This was the second thing I was wondering how I would do as it has already been six months since it was done before the start of the Loop.  So I will be able to finish all my jobs tomorrow and we are scheduled for launching on Monday morning.

So here are a few boat yard shots from the end of the day.

It is not the neatest boat yard - but strangely enough the office is very neat and tidy.

Look at that shine!! Well it looks good in person anyway.

And the sun is setting here in Pensacola

And a creative boat name. Do you think they could get bigger letters next time?

And here is our room mate in the boat yard. We saw a few of these in the rivers. This tow boat has seen better days.

And as the day is done it is time to say ..............

Good Night and May God Bless
