Summer has finally arrived!!. It is now possible to wear short sleeves and shorts and be on the water!. While inland that has been possible, it has been a challenge here on the water until the first of July. Oh well, welcome to Maine.
It is indeed time for a trip Downeast. But before I begin with that I wanted to recall our Fourth of July day at Rob and Dawn's. I will add that it did remind us that for us Ryan and family had just moved to Florida and were not part of our day.
Wolfeboro, like many cities across the country, has a fun parade. As you can see so does this one. I'll start with a picture of Lauren as she is my faithful blog reader.
And Bree loves her cousin Felicity
And Maddy was able to come spend a few minutes with us on her break from working at Bayberry Juice Bar - which you can imagine was crazy being right in town along the parade route. And it is fitting that she is sitting between grandmothers Faye and Alice from whom she gets her middle name of Faylice. Didn't realize how special a photo this was until I was looking a photos for the post.
Rob, Dawn, and Dawn's sister Alex. Rob has Alex's baby Felicity
And Nana is having fun.
And yes Wolfeboro has a Tesla police car.
And Dawn's nephew Garrett loves Faye's meatballs - the first one in line.
Bree and Papa are some cute, eh?
It was a great day and soon it is time to go cruising.
We came to the boat on Wednesday and played pickleball on Thursday. Friday was a nice day and time to head east. Our first stop was - can you guess? - yup Boothbay Harbor. The ride there is always wonderful and we never get tired of what we see. And this is our 23rd year doing it! The tides and weather make each time a different twist on an old favorite.
The approach to Isle of Springs
More osprey in the day markers
Entrance to Townsend Gut
The swing bridge has swung
The exit of the Townsend Gut.
And we turn left and are viewing Boothbay Harbor
And once there it is time for our first walk this year to Spruce Point - a walk that again never gets old - and it is a good five mile walk.
The beautiful church on the hill
The Butt tree has survived another year.
And the fisherman at Brown's Wharf is still there - but sadly the restaurant is not open again this year.
And we then reached the most pleasant trail through the Spruce Point Forest. Can you guess what kind of trees these are?
We exit on to the Spruce Point Inn property that has some wonderful flower gardens
And we are back to the shore and looking across the approach to Boothbay Harbor
The Inn would be a wonderful place to stay.
The roadway is full of sea roses that I really enjoy.
And after a pleasant afternoon of watching all the boat traffic in the harbor - and the boat docking escapades at the town dock - evening has arrived once again.
And as the cannon has been fired at the Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club to herald the setting of the sun, it is time to say ...........
Good Night and May God Bless
