2022 Cruise Day 15 & 16 Holbrook Harbor Sunday and Monday July 24&25, 2022

We decided to stay in Holbrook Harbor for several days. The reason is that Monday was forecast to have  severe thunderstorms from early morning all through to the evening. Winds were to be strong from the south Sunday night into Monday. The potential thunderstorms could have very high winds with them.

Monday was not a bad day to start. I rode around in the dinghy and found this sailboat offered an interesting photo op.

The previous day we had been anchored across the harbor closer to the far shore. The two guest moorings that were full on Saturday opened up so we moved over to one of them. We were joined by a sailboat on the other one later in the day.

The day was very warm and the breeze made it comfortable. As we had no real plans, I decided that this would be an excellent day for a nap. There are few things that are quite so relaxing as a nap on the boat - on a warm day - with a cooling breeze steadily flowing in through the hatch over our bed - and being in a peaceful anchorage. Do you agree Rob? Yes, I know you do.

The sunset gave an indication of things to come. We expected to get wind in this spot, but just before dark a roll came into the harbor that was sideways to the wind and the direction that that wind was aligning the boat. It kept it up most of the night. It was not the quietest night we have slept on the boat - but it was not the worst either.

Monday morning the wind had shifted just enough so the roll went away. So what to do today. Lauren and Bree would say "Let's play a game!!" So we did - well at least one of us did as demonstrated by the results that one of us won the game of Mexican Train pictured here AND the two games of Skippo. I won't say who was the winner, but she was happy as you can see.

Storms rolled all around us all day. The radar maps showed multiple bands of heavy lightning passing us both to the north and south of us. I mean so close that we could see the dark clouds and lighting flashes only a few miles away as they marched on their way easterly. I like a good thunderstorm - but not while I am on the boat. Today was a good day from the perspective of being in the right spot to sit.

And as you can see the storms seemed to have passed by - with this sky much more promising of a nice day tomorrow.

I trust wherever you were today you we able to hide from the bevy of strong storm fronts whirling around most of New England and .................

Good Night and May God Bless
