Day 7 Michigan Road Trip: Ludington Michigan

Last day in Ludington - can't believe our time here is nearing the end. 

Our last day was again a fun and active day. To be sure we were fully charged with energy, including coffee, we had breakfast once more at the House of Flavors. We were joined by some folks that wanted outside dining. This patron is waiting to get their menu.

 

You may recall this picture from an earlier post. It tells of the world record for the longest ice cream sundae accomplished in 2016.

This is a picture of that event. It must have been an amazing happening. The House of Flavors building is seen in the background.

Captain Jim led us on the beach hike this morning. We went back to the state park where we hiked the first day and did our kayaking. About two miles up from the park entrance is Sable Point light. We walked up the access road that is behind the sand dunes.

The lighthouse was not open today so we weren't able to go inside, but it was still a beautiful sight none the less.

A jogger named Rob, not our son as that would have been quite a jog from NH, was kind enough to take our picture.

We walked back along the beach. The wind and waves were up. So glad our fishing day worked out just right. It would not have been possible any other day of our stay. Great planning Captain Jim!!

Thought these beach wheel chairs were rather interesting and a wonderful thing to have available.

And I thought this was a fitting photo to end the blog of our trip. Here you can see the Captains with their trophy for the games of Mexican Train that we played against the Admirals. If you look closely where I am pointing you will see that we came in second place. We consoled ourselves with the fact that you get a silver medal for second in the Olympics - but not sure it is quite so significant in this case as there was only two teams. Great job Ladies!!!

We finished our trip with dinner out. We were joined by fellow Loopers Dave and Rose, who have a home in Ludington - just a short distance from our hotel. It was fun to recall tales of our respective Great Loop experiences

It was a great trip and sad to see our time end - but the good news is a reunion will not be as long as the covid inducted one was - Yea!! .......... so
