Day 7 and 8 Buckle to Northeast Harbor

Day 7 Thursday July 25. The run from Buckle is only 13 miles or so. Piece of cake, eh?

Well here is the start of the day

So the start of the day was less than brilliant. And instead of only 13 miles, it was 13 miles in this? Oh well.

Passing CP - the east end of Casco Passage.

Northeast Harbor - but not with out a stop for a safety check in the middle of the fog from the Coast Guard. We did pass - and got high praise for having horn signal going, lights on, and all safety check items in order, but now?. in the middle of the fog?

The view in NEH was, well?, limited.

Friday did clear out to a brilliant day in all respects. Jeff and Lori, folks we met several years ago at Warren Island, and who completed the Great Loop, but who are now boat-less, drove to NEH to hike with us a little and find some lunch.

We drove down the south end of Mount Desert Island to Bass Harbor light. I have more pictures of it from the water than I can count, but have never see it from the land perspective. As you can see, now I have!!!!

We drove a short distance to Shipman's Cove and hiked to the beautiful shore line that is just east of Bass Harbor light.

We then drove to Thurston's Lobster for lunch. I had the jumbo lobster roll - yum. It was gone before I could remember to take a picture.

And back at NEH. Compare these photos to those above, What a difference a day makes!

As you can see the sun is marching west and we are thinking of sleeping, so ................

Good Night and May God Bless
