Well I have a special series of posts for you all. We departed today for a road trip to Michigan to visit with friends Jim and Justine - folks we met on the Great Loop. They keep their boat on Lake Michigan in Luddington.  We are driving to spend some time with them around the fourth of July.

Today we drove from home in Litchfield,NH to Niagara Falls.  We left early with the hopes of seeing Niagara Falls during the day. Faye has never seen them and I only saw them on a brisk January night back in the 90s.

The day was glorious with blue sky and temperatures in the 90s with a very brisk breeze that helped to keep things cool for walking around the falls park.

Goat island in located in the Niagara River and splits the falls into the the America falls and the Canadian falls. We began our visit by viewing the Canadian side falls.

This is looking across the Canadian falls with Canada on the far shore. The Canadian falls are more dramatic than the American falls and are formed in the shape of a horseshoe.

This is the Maiden of the Mist tour boat. This looks really cool - particularly with the spray on a hot day. Should we take the trip?

Looking up the rapids that approach the Canadian Falls

Now here is a statue of someone that is just as famous today as he was back in his day. Can you figure out why?

Now can you figure it out? - Think EV Car

This is the approach to the Bridal Vail falls segment of the American Falls

The people below have gone down the Cave of the Winds to access the area at the base of the American Falls.

The base of the American Falls is covered much more with rocks than the Canadian side.

This is the view of the American Falls.

Yes folks we did decide to ride the Maid of the Mist.

And now looking at the Canadian Falls.

There was a strong breeze that blew the mist into a real frenzy.

The furnished ponchos really were needed!!

After checking into our hotel, we drove north (down stream actually) along the river to Lewiston and ate a very nice comfort food dinner at the Silo. Here is looking from our table. This is looking south.

On the way back to Niagara Falls stopped to view devils gorge. Very cool. And makes one realize that the river has cut this out of the earth just like the Grand Canyon - but maybe not quite as dramatic.

Hope you enjoyed today's adventure. Need to plan tomorrow's trip so it is time to say ........

Good Night and May God Bless
