After finally completing the house project, it was time to return to the boat for relaxation. We arrived Sunday afternoon. Monday was not a very nice day as you can see - a good day to sit tight on the boat and relax. In the evening we watched Netflix's series, The Lincoln Lawyer. It was very good and is based on novels by Michael Connelly - one of my favorite authors - reminds me, I need to read more often.
On Tuesday we played Pickleball in the morning and then walked Robinhood Road for some good added exercise. Along the way there is an old abandoned home. We have looked at it over the years and lamented that it is being left to rot. The shed structures to the left have largely fallen down, but the main house remains in surprisingly good condition - i.e. the roof looks intact and straight and the walls are vertical and true.
There are certainly signs of impending doom such as evidenced by the collapsing fireplace.
It would be a handsome home if restored.
We finally left the dock on Wednesday!! And off to Boothbay Harbor. It is always a
wonderful ride across the Sheepscot River -
to Isle of Springs -
and then
through Townsend Gut and its swing bridge -
which is then a turn to the left (port if the boaters insist) to view Mouse Island, Burnt Island and then BBH itself - it never gets old.
Here we are coming in a different way to the inner harbor from normal by passing by the Bristol Shipyard. From a last year's blog you may recall our visit to the Ernestina-Morrissey (click here to visit blog post) under restoration at the yard. We passed by this way to verify that the vessel was still there - it was. Hope to see it launched this summer.
And off for a stroll after steaks on the boat barbie.
It was good to see McSeaGulls open as it had to close early account of lack of staff.
And the ice cream shop remains servicing young and old. In case you are unsure the little girl here is the "young" and I think we qualify as the "old."
Lobster pots anyone?
We decided to walk over to the west side of the harbor via the harbor hill.
The Topside Inn is located there and as you can see has a wonderful porch from which to take in the view. It is reportedly one the top 10 inns in the country.
And now at sea level, we viewed the Hodgdon Marina at Signal Point
And they sell diesel here. What a great price!! But more likely a painful reminder of days gone by.
Friday's weather looked iffy so we headed back to Robinhood Thursday afternoon. The Friday started cloudy and rainy and then cleared mid- day. We hiked around Clarey's Pond that is just off the Robinhood Road.
The wonderful pond is the result of beavers making a very large dam that you can see in the last few photos.
Clouds had settled in while we were on our hike - and a boisterous thunderstorm arrived about 15 minutes after we got back on the boat. A free pollen clearing service.
The remainder of the day has been very pleasant. Tomorrow we are off to Wolfeboro for Lauren's dance recital - should be a wonderful time.
So time to say
Good Night and May God Bless
