Need to catch up now that I have a good signal.
Before we started our travels for the day, I flew the drone to capture some shots of the low tide at Warren Island.
On Friday we traveled from Warren Island to Holbrook Harbor, as you can see below, it is just south of Castine.
Our route took us north and around the top of Islesboro Island which we are approaching in the photo below. Seeing the mountains in the distance made us long to make it to Mount Dessert and enjoy some hiking in Acadia.
We passed this boat, Think its name should be "Angry Duck."
We have made it to Holbrook Harbor and found one of the guest moorings open - yeah! We took the dinghy across to Holbrook Island. It is all part of the Holbrook State Park. This is the dock on the island. The high tides because of the high full moon tides have lifted a lot of seaweed and debris off the beaches. Here the incoming tide has piled it up against the dock. Never seen it like that.
The island is beautiful with wonderful fields and forests.
The barn has been restored and is the work shed and living quarters for the park attendants. Now wouldn't that be a cool summer job.
This is looking from the east side of the island.
And a little further along looking southeasterly - our mooring is just to the right out of frame.
Looking more northeasterly toward Castine
Across the island and looking northerly
Looking across at Isleboro.
We discovered beautiful Foxglove flowers.
And a field was full of Monarch Butterflies - an amazing sight that is impossible to really show in a photo - but here is one up close.
And dead trees make the most interesting shapes
Looking southwest
And as you can see the tide has changed - fortunately we weren't too pinned in.
Looking north from our mooring
You see some handsome boats in Maine
And to end the day I had to have a look from the air.
The seals on the ledge near us just looked at the buzzing thing above them - and didn't flinch an inch of blubber.
Looking over the seals to the harbor.
And the sun decides to leave us to the rising moon. A great way to end a most enjoyable day on the Maine Coast.
Good Night and May God Bless
