Thursday looked like it might give us a chance to move. Friday was supposed to be nice, and we thought about staying to get in another hike in Acadia. However, the long term forecast looked less than ideal and we didn't want to get stranded here for a number of days. So we departed and traveled to Buckle Harbor with the idea of using Friday as a good day to run back to Boothbay Harbor.
The day started out fine with the fog thinning as we were looking down Somes Sound. However, soon after passing the islands at the entrance to the harbor seen here, I felt that something was wrong with the steering. I was able to re-pressurize the hydraulic fluid reservoir and we were able to move onto Buckle Harbor.
As you can see the day cleared as predicted as we were approaching Bass Harbor Light.
And if you look back to earlier posts of this trip you will see that the day does not have the fog of the eastbound passage.
Here we are approaching Buckle Harbor.
Looking back at Mount Desert Island and its mountains are always exciting when we are headed on our trip toward them on our travels, but it provides a melancholy feeling looking at them and knowing you will need to wait another year to return to them.
A clear sunset hints at the promised nice day on Friday.
Good Night and May God Bless
