Day 18 Boothbay Harbor

It was nice to be able to sleep soundly and not worry about the unusual wind shifts and increases we had in a number of anchorages. The inner harbor of Boothbay Harbor is about as calm as it gets and I know the moorings are checked every year so a restful night was indeed enjoyed.

We went for our favorite walk out to Spruce Point. The day was cloudy with some fog to start as you can see below.

We passed the Brown's Wharf Fisherman and notice something.

He must have gotten vaccinated - he had a mask on earlier in the year!! Good job old fella!

If you look on the map and view with the satellite layer you can clearly see where out pleasant walk goes through the woods for short but nice distance. One thing we came upon was this rather resilient tree. Incredibly it still is alive as evidenced by the green branches on the end of the tree. Not sure how the tree got the look of Quasimodo but it was a rather interesting discovery.

As you can see the light fog is persisting through the morning hours.

Back in Boothbay we strolled some of the shops - here is a view from one of them.

The streets are the fullest we have seen this year by far. And the sun did make a strong and welcome appearance.

The Smiling Cow has either gotten some rather thin friends or Halloween is coming early to BBH.

And as further evidence of a full house in town, this is the line to the Cabbage Island Clambake - a ferry ride to a nearby island for a shore dinner.

And the long line at the Ice Cream Factory adds to the proof of many in town.

And yes we were ones that joined the line - we are sitting eating ours and watching the procession.

And the night is clear for the moment - the sliver of the moon is even visible.

But the wisps that look like fog may not let us see the clear sky through the night.

But fog or no fog it is time to say .......................

Good Night and May God Bless
