Day 10 August 6, 2017 Sunday Frenchboro Long Island
The day dawned bright and pleasant. The forecast was for sun and we were pleased the forecast was correct. It was an easy ride down the sound. A stop in Southwest Harbor to repair the holding tank discharge pump was not such a pleasant occurrence - but it was relatively quick and painless.
We arrived at Lunt's Harbor on Frenchboro and picked up what we thought was an ok mooring to use - and it turned out to be a correct assumption as no one came to claim it. The situation is there are mooring that Lunt Lobster put out but since the harbor was dredged with Federal dollars they can't charge rent for them - and there are not markers as to which ones they put out.
As we didn't feel real secure on not having to move we chose to stay on the boat and enjoy the sites of the day. And equally important Lunt's Lobster shack was closed. But it opened for dinner - after we had started our dinner - lobster will have to wait.
The state ferry makes occasional runs to the Island from Bass Harbor - and as you can see this was one of the days. It departed at 12:30 after a very quick turnaround.
As you can see there was a real nice time to fly to Mavic after dinner. I am still amazed at the shots it gets every time I fly it.
The evening was capped with a glorious full moon - but trying for a good shot of that is like trying to catch a shot of the breeze.
