We left Cuttyhunk around 8:00 AM. Showers and a few thunder claps had to pass by before we left. The island is a unique place - just like all other islands - each has its own signature.
Wind increased on nose to about 20 knots. Seas built 2-3 feet. Fog in and out made the ride more bumpy and attention requiring than I had planned. The wind on the nose also makes it colder - it is still spring I guess. The forecast was for winds to increase to that speed in the PM- not early AM. Oh well, we would have gone just the same.
We made it easily and found a nice anchoring spot. The dinghy dock is in the background and the Admiral is paying the fee for maintenance.
Looking out to the anchorage in the Great Salt Pond. This "pond" is deep in places and was enclosed originally. Not sure of the year that a channel to it was opened, but it is now called "the New Harbor"
The photos below are from our walk to the main town in the Old Harbor area.
For our efforts at getting out and walking to town, I thought that I deserved a reward. The ice cream, coffee heath bar, was delicious.
And now for a lesson in perspective. See the two boat directly out from the pier? The tiny looking one is Perelandra.
Again we are dwarfed by the much larger Trixie
But as you can see we have a great vessel that makes Trixie seem little - that is what I call creating and keeping the right perspective.
And a view toward the old lifeboat saving station of today's glorious sunset means I will say
Good Night and May God Bless
Charlotte and Mitchell would like to inquire if Maui and Bobby also had ice cream?? Lol
ReplyDeleteNo they didn't - they were tired and took a nap.
DeleteLove seeing those smiling faces!
