Well it has been a good day.
First Happy Anniversary to us.  43 years - What? That's not possible - but I guess it is as I have a son, who shall remain nameless, who turned 40. And I still laugh at his comment on his 30th birthday which to my comment of "How's it feel to turn 30?", he replied "How's it feel to have a son that turned 30?"  You can guess whether or not I asked the same question on his 40th birthday.

We looked at the tide and current situation for the Race - the end of Long Island where all the water from the sound funnels back to sea on the outgoing tide. You can imagine that it is not the place to be with the tide against you. To minimize this we left Block Island at 5:15 - the Admiral is a trooper - and on her Anniversary no less. We ran through the Race just before it began to turn against us. Flat calm seas - bright clear sky and milder temperatures made for a nice ride.

We needed fuel so choices were the north (mainland) or south side of the sound. For a whole lot of reasons I wanted to stay on the south side. We found that Stone's marina at Mattituck inlet had fuel - we are going. What a great decision. The inlet seems so out of place in the otherwise rock beach landscape that goes on for forty miles or so.

While much milder than previous days, it was still a good day to bundle up.

The approach is some what concealed . And I am sure that many natives say "good" to that.

The head of the inlet is below. It has an open anchoring area - I believe a requirement as part of the the federal dredging effort not too many years ago.

This is today's "I Spy" game. Do you see the deer on the beach?

The anchorage
Lombardi's market was great for lunch and had more specialties than I can remember seeing at one time.
The day warmed up nicely - first day in shorts!!!  The bimini top is up today and Faye is able to enjoy a wonderful sit on the veranda. Me too until I fell asleep and decided that I needed to take a nap. Rob, it was not Boothbay - but not bad.

Faye makes a mean dinner - and even on our anniversary.

A wave from us to you means it is time to say

Good Night and May God Bless
