A
beautiful day start to finish. Clouds puffed up during the day but melted away late in the afternoon. Temperatures
were mid 60s to upper 80s.

The morning started blue and bright and was warm too and got warmer. The blue sky filled with clouds as the temperatures increased. They dissolved again at the end of the day.
Our anchorage before the sun arrived.
Guntersville Lock was just below us. A tow had gone through about an hour ago and the lock was open and ready for us to drive straight on in.
Fortunately, the blue sky stayed around through mid morning to give us bright sun and the glorious blue sky backdrop for some outstanding scenery. If you may recall from our trip up the river, the Painted Rock formation is just downstream from Guntersville. The series of photos below gives you just a taste of how glorious a sight Painted Rock coming into full view really was - a true highlight of the Tennessee River and even the whole trip.
And there were several other wonderful rock formations along the way.
And another
And we have passed a few miles. Remember when I highlighted 500 miles and then 1000 miles. Was tough then to think about making 3400 miles.
But soon after the beautiful landscapes above, we spent five hours on some not so pretty river that includes passing the industrial waterfront of Decatur - remember the "Home of Meow Mix". But then we got back into some nice tree lined river. We stopped at the cove of the Joe Wheeler State Park Marina. This is the site of the American Great Loop Cruisers Association fall rendezvous that we attended last October and will be held here next week. But as we traveled by car to it last year we will not be attending this year.
Here is the hotel and transient slips that are out front. They will be filled next week.
We passed by the marina and anchored at the head of the cove - a really nice stop for the evening.
A little more football watching and it is now time to say ....................
Good Night and May God Bless
