First - it is Happy Birthday to son Robert in NH. Faye and I tried to sing a happy birthday greeting voicemail but it quickly dissolved into laughing and coughing and little singing - but I trust the message came through despite the failed audition of our America's Got Talent demo recording. The good thing about Faye and I we still have fun and make each other laugh. Rob, my birthday wish for you and Dawn is to be able to keep that same spirit for all your years ahead.
Well we had a nice day on the water. The sun was bright and the wind light when we departed at 7:30.
The ride was uneventful with not much to see. We made the 38 miles to Titusville just after noon. Don't know where Titusville is? Well Cape Canaveral is just across the intercoastal and this location is famous for watching space launching.
Faye and I walked around town. The "downtown" has a few nice places but there is a lot of shuttered store fronts. We started our walk through a nice park next to the marina.
There was a nice memorial to the those in the space program
The most poignant plague was for Christa McAlliffe, the teacher from NH who died in the Space Shuttle Challenger failed flight. It still makes me shutter to recall the video of the explosion and the sense of terrible loss.
Changing tone, here is one for my "I Spy" friends. What is unusual in this photo?
Downtown is situated on Route 1
The Pritchard House is a museum.
We had a nice lunch at the Downtown Dinner - the name is certainly full of information - if lacking in creativity. Guess I would choose the former if it was my restaurant too.
The Hardware store seen here is not as it seems.
It is part of the local historical exhibit - which was free and interesting.
This park demonstrated the connection of the town to the space program - that is but a shell of the past.
The images in this monument is etched into the stone - it is amazing to see up close.
The marina is very large as you can see below.
And the sun is setting on another fine day on the Great Loop.
But that does not mean the day is done - not by a long shot.
It is Mexican Train time - Tournament time with the score tied at 2 games a piece.
The final game was back and forth with the Captains pulling out a slim victory in the last several rounds. But Admiral Faye has the best final word that she says all the time. "I just like to play." And that is true for both the Admirals - so we all won as it was a huge pant load of fun just playing.
And now as it is time to take Rocky the Wonder Dog out for his evening stroll I am sure it is time to say...
Did you see Ronald MacDonald in the upper window? and .......
Good Night and May God Bless
