Catch Up Post - Bree visit

The weather in May continued to be less than stellar. Note in the photo below that we still have not put up the bimini over the cockpit for protection from the sun.

But we did get to celebrate our 50th anniversary on the boat on May 24. We planned a special dinner out in Portland - the land we grew up in and resided for the first 7 years. But I will simply say that I will never trust reviews again.

The good news is that we did agree to go for another 50 years.

The weather through June continued much the same as May - miserable.

We were mostly at the dock or home - Little traveling. I admit I am not as insistent of going somewhere as I was when I was working, but this June was just non-boating weather. We did get one afternoon and walked around the cove.

And we were home a fair amount. One interesting thing is that Faye will be teaching 3rd and 4th grade at the school at our church. She was insistent that she was not going to do that even if the need manifested itself. But she one day had a calling from the Lord and now she can't wait to get started. Note the box of text books.

Part of the issue with May and June is that things seemed to keep breaking needing to be fixed. On Faye's car the control relay (gray box in lower left) for the fuel pump melted the contacts in the fuse block. That required several attempts at a fix since I didn't feel like spending a pant load to replace the whole fuse box for a single burnt connector that may in fact melt again according to internet reports. But I got it repaired with a little internet searching and backyard mechanic action.

Then the water heater sprung a leak.

But then we did get to have a great time with Granddaughter Bree to start June. It seems that it was only a little while ago she was the size of the the Dr Papa (check the photo) carton I am holding below.

Fortunately we did get some good weather so we were able to take the boat over to Boothbay

Look who is driving the dinghy!

And yes, Ice Cream solves ........................

It was a great time. And we had her all to ourselves!!!

Remember those things that needed to be fixed?

Upon returning home the the furnace announced with a puff of black smoke that it needed to be cleaned. It must be clean now given how much I got on me.

Oh well - just glad that I am able to fix things!!
