One Day to departing !!!!!!
Actually looks like we will start on Monday as the winds are forecast to be stronger than we need to beat into - so another day of cleaning and finalizing things aboard - we can use it.
Wow what a work week.
This going on a year's boat trip is hard work
There where several big projects that had to wait until the boat was in the water. The biggest was mounting the new dinghy onto the davit system to raise it and lower it from the transom mount.
This may not look like much work from the photo, but it has consumed at least four whole days.
But it is done and it came out great. The new dinghy is great and the mounting arrangement worked out much better than on the old one - won't bore you all with details
Packing has been a real experience. We still have not completely stored all the stuff but I will take some photos of the storage locations. Believe it or not it is going to all be stowed in storage areas that have been added over the years - with many that I had added since the spring.
One of the true pleasures of boating is the sunsets. You can't beat seeing the full horizon
Open the photo below and enlarge it.
To lazy eh? Well I will save you the bother. It is Air Force One. Practicing approaches. Not sure if the POTUS is coming to town or, Pease, with the old military base runways and light traffic, is a good practice field.
Today the AGLCA flag got placed on the bow staff - a big day - it really added the sense of "this is happening"
There are several other things that add to that feeling. On Thursday we shut off the water and aired out all the lines. We are "homeless" and have to stay on the boat now - which is a good thing.
And tomorrow we will be taking the cars home and son Ryan will pickup us up for a ride to a party with his family and then drop us off at the boat for the final time. Since we will be boat travelers for a while without at car we when out for one last time for dinner by car. Wentworth-by-the Sea Hotel has great lobster rolls - one for the road - so to speak.
And finally for today's poat, you might ask what the heck is that photo about. Well I will tell you. The middle gauge is showing the generator water temperature at 190 degrees and steady. Over the last number of years it has not held steady and has run hot farto often. A reconditioning of the cooling system has returned a well functioning generator - that makes the Captain happy - and the Admiral even more - need that heat working!!
That's enough for the moment - I am ready for bed.
Good night and may God Bless
Bon voyage! We love you!
