The wind came up last night and was out of the east. Seas were forecast to be lumpy and it was an easy choice to go the NJ Intracoastal Waterway. It was a good trip - but there are a number of shoaling areas with reports of boats going aground often. We fortunately made it without any trouble - but even inside it was a cold day - very glad we did not go the outside route. With all the twists and turns - reminded me of being on the rivers - the trip was 65 miles. Had to travel slow in most places so we didn't get to the marina at Manasquan/Breille NJ until 1500.
As you can see the day began with clouds - and ended with them. This is leaving our marina
The first bridge is up from the marina.
And soon it was meadow lands - thought I was back in Georgia low country - expect the temperature gave a strong reminder we were much, much farther north. In fact, south of Norfolk, VA all the way south the temperatures are in the upper 70s to low 80s. Hope at least Spring gets to the NE soon.
This the the former LifeSaving Station 119 - now a Rutgers research station
It is a beautiful structure - saved and restored.
And looking right you look out to sea through the Little Egg Harbor inlet.
At time the NJICW becomes very close to all the development along the shoreline.
And the osprey really like the day marks as their homes.
And they are not partial to red over green markers.
This was the only bird that left the nest as we passed.
Again getting back near very expensive homes along the waterfront.
Shabby
There is a three mile cut to connect the south and north water source. It is near the northern end of the NJICW.
And as we turned to starboard (right) there appeared up close some really fine homes.
And we were soon passing the RR Bridge.
And in our slip for the night looking back at the bridge.
Dinner at Due Amici was excellent.
And another game of remote Mexican Train with Jim and Justine.
(the men won again and tied the series at three all -yessss!!!)
So time to go to bed and ponder "the thrill of victory, and the agony of defeat." So ...............
Good Night and May God Bless
