Day 12 and 13 Somesville
Our stretch of less than ideal weather has continued for the last several days. It looks to continue through Thursday. In addition to the clouds and rain, the wind has remained rather brisk day and night. So there is not much incentive to move - and being retired we don't have to!!!
Yesterday, Tuesday, found us conceding to the morning forecast of rain showers and staying on the boat. We were fortunate that the weather in the afternoon improved and even featured the sun making an appearance that enticed us to sit in the cockpit and enjoy the scene.
The forecast for cloudy but no showers for the evening convinced us to attempt to go to the Acadia Repertoire Theater here in Somesville. As the day was still dreary I will include some photos of the Theater and the village taken last year.
The play was 39 Steps, a novel that Alfred Hitchcock made into a movie in 1935. It was a great show as always.
Today, Wednesday, not wanting to spend another day without getting in a good walk, we headed to Bar Harbor and took the Explorer Bus to Sand Beach within Acadia National Park. There is Sand Beach of course as you can see below/
But at the far end of Sand Beach is Great Head. A wonderful bluff with a loop trail around it. We wanted to do something that if it started to rain we weren't too far away from cover. As you can see the total distance was just short of 2 miles. And interestingly, this is the trail in 2005 we first walked in Acadia that got us into hiking!!! I think it was a good time to retrace our steps.
We don't look so bad for nearly twenty years on.
The Beehive is in the background
And the gray skies did shower us a few times - but we did have rain jackets.
If you look real close you can see the CAT Ferry from Nova Scotia just to the left of the tree in the middle of the frame.
Can you see it now?
Jim and Justine, this photo was taken by a group of folks from Michigan that were traveling by motorcycles. They were Blue fans - and were jealous when I told them we had a friend that saw the boys in blue win it all!
A reward for our exercise efforts.
And back at the boat, the local loon came by to say hello and do some preening for us.
Well the day has flown away just like our feathered friend so ...........
Good Night and May God Bless
