It was mild last night - upper 60s - OK for sleeping after a longer than usual cool down. Warm all day. Warmed up to 78 in afternoon. Short sleeves and shorts all day - but strong threat of thunderstorm - and we did get rained on big time. But no lighting - yea.

Frankford was a nice stop. Got to visit with folks on boats Contentment and Gypsy.
The locks have not gone onto summer hours and open at 10:00. They will start at 9:00 everyday on June 23. So there was no rush to leave. I wandered the lock and took some photos including the ones on building the canal. Trust you can read the story of so many workers - a hard life.
I thought this was a great graphic of the entire Trent Severn Waterway
This view is from the top of the lock looking back to where we came in yesterday - different perspective for the lock.
This is the Admiral's normal lock position. The spring line is on the cleat next to her and is what she uses to loop around the wires that hang down from the lock walls. This is what keeps us in place as the water fills the lock. She's a cute Admiral don't you think?
We are in the Trent River, but near the locks the approach canal needs to be made. Here it is cut in the rock.
The river widens out between locks. There are some nice places along the river.
The river is really nice as it was on the Erie. One thing you can see is the brewing clouds. We watched the radar all day.
Clouds are a building. We wondered if we would get to Campbellford or have to stop along the way.
Notice the approach to the lock here is a built-up fill to make an aqueduct like canal.
This lock house is one of the older ones that was actually a house the lock keeper lived in.
This day mark made me smile. I thought of the "Charlie Brown Christmas tree" "It's really not a bad tree Charlie Brown."
I had hoped to video this lock but this is where the rain (but no lightning yea) hit us. The Admiral was is her spot - and got soaked. As you can see from this photo we are in the first lock and will raise up to the height of the next door that then opened and we drove right into it.
The "Storm Trooper"
Fortunately this was the last lock of the day. We stopped at Campbellford. It was a long day with the weather. Also the locks are not fully staffed for summer yet so we have more waiting at the locks than we expected.
Campbellford's claim to fame is having the artist for the Twoonie - the two dollar coin - live in town - thus the reason for the large sculpture
For today's "I Spy" what is this?
It is a black squirrel- never seen one. It is bigger than ones we know. Looks the size of a cat. Learn something ever day.
As the black squirrel is out in the evening I take it as a sign that I should say,
Good Night and May God Bless
