Day 118 Grand Harbor Marina to Florence Friday September 14, 2018

Day 118  Grand Harbor Marina to Florence Friday September 14, 2018

Mostly sunny all day. Warm temperatures into the low 90s. We even got a strong shower just after we tied the last line in the marina - didn't last long.

Today was a nice ride of about 30 miles to Florence. It is a very nice City with a nice downtown we got to see as the marina has a courtesy car that we used for our ride to dinner and around for errands. There is the North Alabama College Campus in town that I suspect is a large part of the vibrancy of the City.  Muscle Shoals is across the river with its own claim to fame as the home of the Muscle Shoals Recording Studio that many a hit came from.

Our ride up the river today was very nice. The only downside was it was one of a very few warm days that we were actually going in the same direction as the breeze - so there was minimum breeze on the bridge - but still enough to make the ride very enjoyable.

The Pickwick Lake retained its wonderful character pretty much the entire way until just short of Florence where it narrowed and development sprung up.

Here's some shots of the lake

And this is the brief but heavy shower we got just as we cleated the last line.

Notice the rain coming off the roof.

Here is downtown Florence. The restaurant City Hardware is straight ahead - our dining spot for the evening.

And for my "I Spy"friends, who placed this clock here?

The City Hardware - hum - not a nut or a bolt to be seen.

And a few more shots of downtown.

The sun is setting real early now. It was dark at 7:30 when we got back to the boat. So that means it is time to say ................

Good Night and May God Bless
