Today was one of the days we dreamed about when planning the Loop. Sunny skies, warm temperatures, island breezes, and no need to do a single thing!!!! Now this is what retirement is all about. Sorry to my non retired readers - but your day will come.

We slept in until 0800 in a clear attempt to regain some of the lost sleep from last night. The marina where we are staying in is right on the Clearwater beach. It is a wonderful area. Here is a morning photo of the marina from our slip.

We decided that a ride of the Jolly Trolley is in order today. There are routes around the beach and mainline sides of Clearwater as well as a route that goes to Tarpon Springs. As the latter route only runs on weekends we decide to go to Tarpon Springs for the day.  Kris and Steve from our boat buddy Caeruleus join us for the trip.

The photo below is from the bus stop along the main road of the beach front.

Ah palm trees - now that is what I am talking about. We all remarked that it was nice being in Florida on the Panhandle, but this is what we all thing of when we dream of being in Florida for the winter. And it is cold back home - high was 47 and low 26 back home in New Hampshire - and it is just "warming up" getting cold. (how's that for a play on words)

And we know from this photo that we are in southern Florida. Ok I Spy folks what is it about this sidewalk that makes me say that? Look close - No eh. Click on the photo and look closer.

Well you are correct. We have never seen seashell sidewalks back home.

The trolley ride is fun and we arrive early afternoon. We are hungry and eat at Mama's Greek restaurant. It is very good. Here are a few shots of the harbor. You would have thought I would have taken some photos of town and the seafood festival going on. But alas I have none to offer.

The only non waterfront photo is the sign below that I found real clever.

A return along the water on the Jolly Trolley afforded us a chance to see the sunset. It was nice but not as nice as last night's.

And it is now dark here in Clearwater and thus time to say ...........................

Good Night and May God Bless

  1. So glad you got to Tarpon Springs. It is a neat little place to visit. Yes, you are in a great part of FL (albeit a somewhat congested and busy area). The sandy beaches there are amazing. Enjoy!

    1. Hello to the Diva Di crew

Yes it does feel wonderful to be in your home port waters. We are also really happy to be across the pond. Another window for crossing isn't even on the horizon.

And the beaches are marvelous - and we are enjoying it
