A nice day of bright sun and moderate temperatures. We headed on walk to downtown Clearwater.

It was cool today and we were longing for the days of not needing to wear a jacket or sweatshirt. But I guest that we shouldn't complain as it is snowing at home in NH and most of New England. And I had to smile at the headlines from NYC
  • New York City drivers were stuck for hours because of Winter Storm Avery. Public transit was also bogged down all across the city.
And messages from the grandkids noted that they were out of school today. In our walk we found all the "snow" that we wanted.

And back to our walk into town. Here is the intercoastal waterway from the bridge.

The marina is the City Marina on the mainline side of the intercoastal waterway.

We saw some neat buildings. Here is the old Court House

We saw this building from a distance. It reminded us of the Flagler buildings in St Augustine.

It clearly looked like a hotel.

Before I tell you, does anyone now what this building is now? It is not a hotel (now). Think Tom Cruise.

Now you can look at the photo below. As it turns out, Clearwater is the east coast headquarters of the Church of Scientology. The building was the Fort Harrison Hotel from the 1920s but was bought by the church in the mid 70s. The hotel and nearby buildings are apparently used for hosting visiting parishioners.

The downtown is nicely renovated - but many of the storefronts are empty.

We did find a wonderful diner - Emily's

Yum!!

And here we are back at the marina, And we did well walking 5.56 miles.

The marina is quite empty.  I expect we will see more Loopers over the weekend since there maybe a weather window for them to cross the Gulf as we did last week.

But for now we really like our "private" dock area.

So time for dinner and some more football. So I will say .......................

Good Night and May God Bless
