Friday night was mild and the fog crept in overnight. Fog thick until 11:00 then scaled up.
Seas were light chop. Fog finally cleared at entrance to Muscle Ridge Channel at Whitehead Light. Beautiful afternoon.
Well the summer has been really a poor weather one here on the coast and at home too for that matter. If there has been nice days there has been usually thunderstorms. The weather on the coast has been very cloudy and cold - have had the heaters on while at the dock in July!! And when it warms up the air is humid from the south and causes the coast to be cloudy, foggy and cold. It is a double hit to coastal tourist towns.
But here's hoping to the change to summer weather!!
We left Robinhood on Thursday. The day was nice. Here are a few shots of the ride over. It never gets boring - it looks different each time with the weather and the tide changes.
Arriving in Boothbay the weather looks nice - it was but it was breezy so we didn't go any farther since we would need to run in open water and we don't need to do that if we don't want to - and being retired I don't need to push to fit in stops within a vacation window.
And the next day was forecast to be cloudy and windy - and it was so we stayed one more day.
Today the wind had died down overnight - but the fog came in overnight. We waited until 11:00 and then departed. You can see the fog is not too bad.
Here we have traveled about 20 miles and are headed for Whitehead Island Light (below) that is at the entrance to the Muscle Ridge Channel - a wonderful ride among the mainland to the west and islands to the east.
The Camden Hills in the distance - I always am thrilled to see them - we are now in Penobscot Bay - God's country some would say.
Part way up the Muscle Ridge is Dix Island below. It was a place that had a robust granite quarry.
It is a great place to anchor.

The sun is beautiful
Time to get the drone up.
But the clouds are coming back in - suppose to be nice weather but we will see.
And as the light of day is being covered over for another night, it is time to say ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
