Day 14 July Cruise Warren to Port Clyde Wednesday July 29, 2020

The night was warm and the air was calm and left the windows open. The sun was out in the morning and managed to stay out all day - even with a cloud line that lay just to the east. Temperatures in mid eighties - a wonderful day to be on the water - it was roasting back home in NH.

The day was perfect. Warm, sunny, and light breeze to bring the cooling sea air.

We left Warren Island at 10:00 and motored easily the 30 some miles back toward home. We passed by Camden and Rockland.

Just off Rockland we saw this amazing motoryacht the Rising Sun.
It is 426 feet and it is doing 16 kts. (can tell from looking at its AIS information).  Based on its maximum HP of 48,000, the fuel burn at cruising speed is - wait for it -  over 2000 gals per hour. That is insane and seemingly over the top in a lot of ways. But I will admit that most every sailor that we pass (note that we sailed for 25 years) says similar things about us.

Owls Head light and beginning of the Muscle Ridge Channel.

Whitehead light at the south end.

We are now on the approach to Port Clyde. The lone tree that guards this small island has been there since the first time I saw it in over 45 years. Live on lone tree!!

The is Marshall Point Lighthouse. This is the one at which Forest Gump finished his run cross the country in the movie.

Port Clyde

And across the straight from our mooring is Hupper Island and this home of Chief Justice John Roberts. And yes we have seen him and his wife.

We went for a walk. This sign is rather ironic with the shark logo and kayaks after the killing 2 days ago by a shark of a women swimming at Bailey's Island.

On walk back into town passed the pile of lobster pots.

And I can't get this thing

A post office in a coastal town.

And there was time to get some aerial photos.

The town of Port Clyde

And night is falling so time to say...................

Good Night and May God Bless.
