Day 10 July Cruise Northeast Harbor to Holbrook Island Saturday July 25, 2020

Day 10 July Cruise Northeast Harbor to Holbrook Island Saturday July 25, 2020

The night was mild and the air was calm. The sun was up and out all day. Nice afternoon breeze. Temperatures in low eighties - another perfect day.

Today was a perfect day to travel. Warm with just enough breeze to keep it nice but the seas were nearly flat calm. Reminded me of traveling on the rivers during our Loop trip.

Remember I said I like pictures of special buoys? Well this one starts the Western Way into Northeast Harbor - I am disappointed at it is only marked "1" to start a buoy series.

Here we are approaching Bass Harbor Light.  Remember the fog conditions of several days ago?

And the EB channel marker

And we can see the lighthouse now.

The Eggomoggin Reach is a nearly 13 mile river like passage formed by Deer Isle to the left and the mainland to the right. The island bridge is near the upper end and is always interesting to pass under.

Pumpkin Island lighthouse is another abandoned lighthouse that demonstrates the importance of water travel in the area.

The west end of the reach and looking at the Camden Hills in the background.

We are entering the Holbrook Island (on the left) approach. We scored one of the two guest moorings and will walk the island tomorrow.

I forgot to get some some sunset photos so you will have to trust me that night has arrived once again to the Maine Coast. So time to say ..............

Good Night and May God Bless
