Day 5 & 6 August Cruise Warren Island to Perry's Creek and to Seal Bay Sunday/Monday August 16 & 17 2020

Sunday night was mild and the air was calm until 0200 when breeze came up from NE. Clouds came with the breeze and stayed around until mid afternoon when the sun returned to bring a nice afternoon. The clouds returned overnight with rain for Monday morning but departed nicely in the late morning to bring a wonderful afternoon.

We motored around the north end of North Haven and then into the Little Thorofare between North Haven and Vinalhaven. We arrived at Perry's Creek.

Caisson Light in the Thorofare. It was great that the clouds departed and gave us a wonderful afternoon and evening.

Perry's Creek and old boathouses that add so much charm.

We met up with friends Bob and Paula and Scupper from Honey Dew which you can see here.

Clouds came in overnight and rain was heard on the cabin top early morning. But the rain stopped by the time I got up and we had a dry trip to the east side of Vinalhaven an into Seal Bay. The sun managed to gain the upper hand by the time we anchored in our favorite spot off Hay Island.

Here is the caisson lighthouse at the east end of the Vinalhaven Thorofare.

This is the approach to Seal Bay

View from our anchorage in Seal Bay

I had discovered that the Huber preserve had a trail that came down to the water and the trail head was just around Burnt Island from us. Here is approaching the landing area

And this is looking out from Oak Point from where the trail begins a 1/2 mile loop - it also has a trail off the loop out to a parking lot that we didn't do this time. Will do it next time.

If you look close you can see Perelandra just off the far point

It was a beautiful walk around the shore and then around the interior of the preserve.

Oak Point, where we landed, in the right of the picture

After lunch I took a dinghy ride around Seal Bay. It really is a beautiful place to behold.

A low tide only "beach" located on the path into to Seal Bay

And we visited with Jeff and Lori from Water Witch - folks who are planning to do the Great Loop. We had first met them earlier this year at Warren Island. Fun to talk some more about the our great trip.

The sun has faded to black once again so time to say ............................

Good Night and May God Bless
