Back on the Boat - But ..............

The weather has been less than ideal. So I thought I would update the blog to help me remember the nice hike we found.

We had a nice several days at home following our Michigan trip before coming to the boat last Saturday. We had plans to visit with friends on Monday so we just enjoyed being at the dock. On Sunday we treated ourselves to a rather nice hike. Remember, I have mentioned finding new places nearby. Well we did explore one of those finds.

Our marina is at the location of the green dot. Robinhood Road is the road to the marina and passes just north of Clarey's Pond, seen in the middle of the map. We had noted a path from Robinhood Road into the woods on previous walking trips alone the road. Some asking around confirmed that it was a nice walk around the pond.

It was a short walk to find the north end of the pond. From the photo below you can see that beavers have found the pond long before did. That is one impressive dam.

In my conversations about the hike, I was told to "take the high trail if the water is high." As you can see it was high and just a ways ahead the lower path was swamped. We did "take the high road" and we did get to 'Scotland' (or the south end of the pond) before anyone else around.

There were a number of rock walls that confirmed that the area was farmed back in the day.

It was very nice hike around the lake of about 1.5 miles. With the walk up from the marina the hike was about 2.5 miles - a good stretch of the legs.

And since Monday the weather has looked like this. And the forecast is more of the same. So we just decided to hang out here.

We are going to visit son Rob and his family on Saturday and the following Saturday we will be having a birthday party for son Ryan - so our travels in the near future will be not far from the marina - but there are lots of places to go nearby.

So time to say .........................

Good Night and May God Bless
