Day 3 Michigan Road Trip: Grand Haven, Michigan to Ludington Michigan

Today we arrived in Ludington - the destination of friends Jim and Justine McKnight. Our day started out in a fun local restaurant in Grand Haven named the Morning Star Cafe. It has a Mexican slant as you can see by the color scheme. Note the wall that is made of pieces of chinaware - creative I thought.

The walls had some interesting painting. This one caught my eye with the sailboat aground on the beach. Not sure if the person was the owner and is mourning their loss or meant to just be an observer. The life jackets on the stand was a further confusing element.

Believe the water was representative of Lake Michigan as the painting features sand dunes as is found in this area.

And coffee was served in a glass. Never had it in a cup unless of course it was a to go cup, but it worked quite well - particularly with the insulated wrapped made to hold the glass.

And a Denver omelet was very good.

We arrived to Jim and Justine's boat, Knight's Kinship around mid morning.

After a lot of catching up, we went for a walk. This is looking out to the inlet for the harbor.

The marina related park was very nice and featured a lot of bronze sculptures. This one is depicting the Steamship Badger than runs between Ludington and Manitowoc, WI on the other side of Lake Michigan.

This "follow the duckling" sculpture was interesting.

Notice anything unique in this photo?

How about now?

How about now? The Admiral has joined the parade with a pose that granddaughter Lauren will be proud to see.

Downtown Ludington is a fun place.

There is even a Robert Street named, I am sure, after your younger son.

The very well liked ice cream shop - it also has a restaurant that we will try tomorrow for breakfast.

Look at the wall of this store in the next several photos.

See the change in the mural on the wall?

Note the triangle shaped protruding wall segments that makes the optical illusion possible.

It was very windy on Lake Michigan today.

There is a very well protected entrance to the harbor with a lighthouse on one of two breakwaters.

There are a lot of fishing boats - Jim is planning for our try at the catch of the day on Saturday.

Jim is fixing some more fenders to keep the boat protected from the wind against the pier.

In the evening the Badger, made its return to the harbor - it was fun to watch it come in and turn around and back into its berth.

It was a great and fun day. It was great to again see Jim and Justine and Rocky the Wonder Dog.

As you can see the sun is low in the sky, so it is time to say...............

Good to be with the McKnights and May God Bless
