Day 11 July 30 Sunday Somesville - second day

Well you can see from the title that we did not move from Somesville. So you would think that there wouldn't be many pictures. Well that is not the case, It was a magnificent day and locations commanded me to "take the shot!!" - just like you hear at a hockey game. eh?  Hope my Canadian cousins see that I was thinking of them today.

Yesterday I promised to get a picture of the harbor at Somesville - well here are a few.

Just a hint of last night's rain..........

... that soon departed.

I have read this many times, but today I just comprehended that not only was Abraham Somes the first permanent settler on the Sound, but also the first of all of Mount Desert.

I learned today that this bridge has only been in place since 1995. I thought it had been in place for far longer. Learn something everyday. I must know a lot given my days that have passed under the bridge. Now that was a clever play on words, even if I say so myself!

We waited for the Explorer Bus at the Library.

Our destination was Cafe This Way. It is down an alley and I am sure the name was the subject of a lot of finger pointing. "I am hilarious!!"

Sorry for the picture of a half eaten meal - but it was too good to not start and get a ways.

Notice the bottle. "How can you miss it!" Well it is full of real Maple Syrup - yum.

After breakfast we again walked the shore trail.

We are still able to sit up and take nourishment so on we go!!

Our lone boulder looks like a little higher tide might float it away.

And here is the story of our lonely rock.

Main Street is waking up for the start of a perfect day,

Back at Somesville harbor.

If you recall from yesterday's post, the plan was to go to a matinee play. The playhouse is at the far end of the village of Somesville. The houses along Main Street are really something that Norman Rockwell would have appreciated.

And the playhouse is also the grange hall.

The falling tide and afternoon sun changes the scene once more.

After dinner it seemed that some drone shots would be interesting.

The sun set without a cloud to prematurely darken its departure.

And likewise the moon rose without the hint of obscuring clouds. The perfect end to a fine day.

Be sure to click on this image to see it is full view.

So today we felt the realization of last night's salutation of ................

Good Night and May God Bless
