Day 2, 2023 Summer Cruise Boothbay to Port Clyde

The early morning had some light fog, but as forecast, it was burned off by the sun by 8:00 am. Any fog patches were supposed to clear out by morning's end. Here we are just leaving Boothbay and all is well.

It's clear and a most pleasant ride at Ram Island where we start our open water course.

But we only make about ten miles when we run into a fog bank. "But it will thin out in a while." Not!!

We divert our course from the Camden area and head for Port Clyde. It is not fun running in the fog.

This stretch is much lighter fog than most of the run.

Here we have made it to Port Clyde and this is Marshall Point Lighthouse at the entrance.

We pick up a mooring from Port Clyde General Store and take the pleasant walk out to the lighthouse.

Does this picture bring back any recollections of a movie?  See below

Marshall Light is from 1993 Forest Gump - where he ends his cross country run.

This is the ferry boat that runs to Monhegan Island which is an amazing place.

Look close - do you think the Captain has an electric car?

As there were a great many boats still moving and not controlling their wakes, we moved around the peninsula and anchored in Turkey Cove - no smart comments now.

So much for patchy fog clearing in the afternoon. Oh well, welcome to the Maine Coast. It is still amazing even in the fog!

Good Night and May God Bless
