The day didn't dawn at all - it just morphed from dark to light. Smoke from the forest fire to the east and clouds combined to make a strange colored blue gray. Rain came in for a while in the morning and then cleared as we got closer to Hotham Island. Temperatures in the low 70s

As noted in the weather summary, the cloudy day and wind direction combined with the forest fire smoke from the east to make for a day of strong smoke smell in the air and a true "smoky so'wester" for most of the morning.
Some photos below of the area from our anchorage to around ten miles to the east.
Looking back east to where we came from this morning.
The sky cleared nicely as we moved away from the mountains. I wondered if the mountains captured and funneled the smoke.
The sun came out as we neared the entrance to the bay of Hotham island. We were going to anchor in the last bay on the east end but there where already 15 to 20 boats. There is a cottage that Great Loop hosts hold a get together each afternoon - but we didn't want to be in a group that crowded. We opted to anchor in the middle of the bay with three other boats with great distances between us.
We took a nice dinghy ride to the Oak Bay at the very west of the bay. There is a narrow inlet path that then opens to a big pond like area. Seems there is enough water to take even Perelandra in there.
On the ride in the inlet there is a cluster of trailers that looks like it was an area that a group of folks once gathered and stayed, but is now abandoned - an eerie site.
At our peaceful anchorage.
Dinner is over and I must do some travel planning so I will say .........
Good Night and May God Bless
