Day 91 Waukegan to Chicago Saturday August 18, 2018

The day had cloud cover early in the day. The wind increased to 15 to 20 in the morning and stayed that way all day. The temperatures rose to the high 70s in afternoon hazy sun.

We approached Chicago via a little roller coaster ride from a following sea - but I slowed down a little and the 2 to 4 waves passed under us nicely - the autopilot was then able to steer the boat.

The sight of  buildings of the skyline grew more impressive as we got closer and closer to the City. While we have been in many places we dreamed about, realizing that we would be visiting Chicago via our own boat grew more and more surreal the closer we got.

Entering the breakwater was really neat.

We found our mooring that I had reserved online and decided it was time to stroll the City. We couldn't get a dock so the mooring is a much cheaper alternative. We will stay here through Monday.

This is the first bridge on the Chicago River from the Lake side. We will pass under it when we head sound next Tuesday.

This looking down the Chicago River. In the distance you can see the Trump Tower.

 And closer.

 And more upper.

As I mentioned in yesterday's post, the Chicago Air Show is this week. Notice that a few folks have turned out for the show.

We watched one group of prop planes and then decided to go to the Navy Pier. One of the features is this botanical garden. I should have taken a shot of the Pier.

Outside was a neat water feature the kids loved.

The one building had opening windows - see em? Seems strange to me.

 Here is the mooring field

And can my "I Spy" fans find our boat?

And we got back to the boat before the Thunderbirds started their show. Here is a shot with them and the AGLCA flag flying. We think we will take the boat out tomorrow and watch the show from a closer vantage point.

Dinner on the boat and watching some preseason football takes us to bedtime soooo.......

Time to say -

Good Night and May God Bless
