Day 89 Kewaunee to Port Washington Thursday August 16, 2018

Day 89 Kewaunee to Port Washington Thursday August 16, 2018

The day had cloud cover most of the day. The breeze was light from the northeast. The temperatures rose to the high 70s.

We had 70 miles to cover today. We were underway at 6:30. It was a good day with light winds. But there was a swell at times that seemed to come in two directions - not bad but enough to make it rolly at times.

We arrived at Port Washington in early afternoon. We checked in and had Linner at the nearby seafood restaurant. It was good.

We then walked the town. It was much nicer that Kewaunee. The Main street was inviting as most store fronts had active shops.

The first one we saw was a wonderful Duluth Trading Company store. That's the company that has the quirky ads that includes beavers trying to chew that pants. They had nice stuff - Does LL Bean have competition?

The Main Street was attractive. And nicely alive.

See the steeple in the distance?

It is beautiful St Mary's Church

And the church is on the tall hill of the town.
And guess it is logical to find also on the hill .........

The original lighthouse

It is now a museum. This lifeboat is from a lost ship. The sign tells of several crew of the ferry Milwaukee were able to survive the sinking but only freeze to death in the lifeboat. Life was tough in the old days.

So on that somber note I will say ........

Good Night and May God Bless
