2022 Cruise Day 10 Northeast Harbor Tuesday July 19, 2022

 Today was forecast to be a highly iffy day of weather. So we planned to find a time to walk around the harbor and visit the Azalea Gardens.  The iffy day was fully expected given that the night was rather windy as forecast and we even felt some slight wave action in the harbor. But the highly iffy part didn't occur and the forecast clearing came much earlier in the day - no problem here. It turned into one of the nicest days of the summer.

The walk is only about a mile total, and the path in the woods is only about quarter of that - but it is most pleasant.


Arriving at the dock from our ride from the boat we noticed this handsome launch.

 

And the head of the harbor has a vastly different perspective from other points around the harbor.

The trail, while very short has many bridges that cross the stream it follows.

And the stream itself is the feature that really makes this such a delightful stroll.

And the upper bridge has a bench that is highly relaxing to sit upon and listen to the running stream

 

And in a few more strides we arrive at the Asticou Azalea Gardens. It is across from the Asticou Lodge but I am not sure that there is any connection as far as ownership and care.

And back to the harbor in time for lunch and lounging on the boat. An iffy day has become one of the warmest and more pleasant days of the summer.

And later in the afternoon we took a stroll in the village of Northeast Harbor. I have to stop at the Colonel's restaurant and bakery for several of their chocolate glazed donuts - some of the best ever.

And the evening is really a treat with the cooling breeze gently streaming in the windows. A wonderful day.
