Grandkids Time in Boothbay June 24-26, 2022

This past weekend was beautiful and made for a great trip to Boothbay with grand kids Charlotte and Mitchell. Our trip began on Friday evening when we picked them up.

We stopped at a favorite dinner just outside Saco, Gonneville Farms. Now Mitchell is a lobster fan. "No Mitchell, they don't have lobster here." That has always been the case, but fortunately for Mitchell. a special that day was a lobster roll and as you can see he is a happy boy.

We arrived early evening and the Chief was there to say "Hello" , but he still is quite stoic.

The night at the dock was peaceful and the kids slept well. "What do you want for breakfast?" "Chips and Dip!!" Well you see Papa was accommodating.

Mid morning and time to head to Boothbay. Here we are approaching the swing bridge and passengers are up front to get a good view.

"Who wants to drive?" It seems both!

No trip to Boothbay would be complete without a stop at Sherman's Bookstore. I am amazed and pleased they remain in business. One of the reasons is a well stocked toy section. They know the customer!

And they do have books - including "Charlotte's" Web that you know who spotted.

And there is very nice young kids section that we enjoyed for quite some time, including a reading from Mitchell of the "Wheels on the Bus."

With supporting cast members.

After all that work, an ice cream seemed only fitting.

I guess the smiles means the ice cream is still good.

And we were fortunate to find a nice woman who took our picture at the famous sign.

A dinghy ride was in order after our tour of town, Windjammer Days is this coming week and some were starting to arrive.

Along the ride the kids starting to try and grab floating seaweed. It soon turned into a game in which they got really good.

"We can't show Nana the mess we have made, OK?"

It took me nearly an hour to clean up the dinghy. Nana just smiled.

On Sunday we rode over to Burnt Island Lighthouse. Some may remember that it is located just outside the outer harbor of Boothbay. It is always a great stop. The day was again perfect!! Actually the first real taste of summer this year.

The rocks are always fun.

We did find the rope tire swing. The kids had a fun ride.

And the conditions were perfect for a fast dinghy ride! (You can't go fast in Boothbay Harbor)

And then it was time to head back to Robinhood. It was a great time. And until the next time ....

Good Night and May God Bless

  2. What kind of range do you have ?

  3. Assume you are asking about boat range. It depends on speed. But at 12 to 14 knots just under 1 nm/g. At trawler speeds 1 5 to 2.
