Today's forecast was for a cloudy start that was to mprove as the day went on. Time to head to Mount Desert for some hiking. It is an easy run from Buckle to Northeast Harbor.
Here we are approaching Bass Harbor light. I believe it is one of the most photographed lighthouses.
This is looking at Mount Desert Island
Like motels, the mooring at Northeast Harbor have a check out by 11:00 so we target getting there around 10:30 which works out perfectly. A great mooring spot.
And it is a great day to head to Jordan Pond for lunch on the lawn. Our trek starts by taking the dinghy to the east side of the harbor. Here is the trail from a previous hike.
We walk up the stairway to a wonderful overlook. Can you see Perelandra?
The first stop is the wonderful Thuya gardens. It is always a marvel to see the many colorful and varied flowers and plants. Today was no exception.
It almost makes me want to plant some flowers at home.
The Admiral leads us to the Map House that is the formal beginning of the trail to Jordan Pond. Note that she is using her wonderful sense of direction to point us to the correct way to go. No need for a compass when she is in the lead!!
You can't beat a hike through a coast of Maine trail!!
The Knee Tree signifies that we are nearly there.
Unlike Bob Ueker, we did get to sit in the front row. It was a blessing to enjoy one of our favorite places from such wonderful spot.
And Jordan Pond is famous for its popovers. One twist is to make it into a popover ice cream sundae - yum!!!!!

And after a ride on the now operating Explorer Bus service on the Island (it didn't run to NEH last year and didn't run at all in 2020 - the year of Covid), we arrived back at the boat. After terrorizing at school of fish for dinner, we had this fellow find his way up and onto the float next to us. Sleep well.
And as our friend appears to have settled in for the evening I will say ...........
Good Night and May God Bless
