2022 Cruise Day 7, Holbrook Harbor to Buckle Harbor. Saturday July 16, 2022

Today was not the sunniest day one can have but it was one of the best days to travel by water. There was a high cloud cover, and in summer that can mean that there is little wind generated. That proved to be the cast today.

Before we departed Holbrook, I took a dinghy ride out and around the bay.

You can see the clouds I mentioned. The tide was low again and it is interesting to see it from water level as well the aerials of the drone.

No seals yet on the ledges. The sun (or the lack thereof) has not warmed the rock so I guess the clan is off looking for "fresh sushi for breakfast."  Does anyone know where the "fresh sushi for breakfast." reference comes from? Hint: think animated movie. Answer below

After our own breakfast, it was time to head out. Our run today is around the south end of Cape Rosier and down the Eggomoggin Reach (the long stretch between Deer Isle and the mainland) and across Jericho Bay to Buckle Harbor formed by Buckle Island and the larger Swan Island

The day did get sunnier in the afternoon. Perfect time to walk the island. Can't really call it a hike as it the island is only about a 1/3 of a mile long. But is most pleasant.

"And Alice, where does that door lead us to?"

And here is my lovely Alice to lead us to the other end of the island.

The other end of the island has a beautiful spot with at small beach. It appears to have had a home at the site at one time.

This looks to be a foundation.

And just a ways back in the woods is the outhouse. Which has been standing for a good number of years.

And here is The Cheshire Cat to lead us back to the dinghy

And I have to say the is a great way to spend a Maine Coast summer afternoon.

And of course some aerial moments. The flight was southerly to the end of Buckle Island (on the right here) and around the small islands nearby.

It is tough to tell here but the breeze has come up to about 20 knots. So it was calm in the anchorage as the harbor was oriented in the perfect direction to block and waves, but I will keep one ear to what is happening in the night.

So here's to a ........................

Good Night and May God Bless

Ans: From the intro of the Madagascar movie with the Penguins taking over the fishing from sitting on the crescent moon.
