2022 Cruise Day 4 Boothbay Harbor Wednesday July 13, 2022

Summer has really arrived - YES!!!. Beautiful day with temperatures in the mid 80's.

Well I am sure that many of you will note that there is a calendar day gap between day 3 and day 4 of our cruise and also that we are back in Boothbay. Not heading east at all. Well the simple answer is that we had to make a trip back home.

We came back up yesterday, and in a restart mind set, the first stop was Boothbay. We did do our walk to Spruce Point that you can see photos of in earlier post of trip. Also today I walked over to the Bristol Shipyard here in town, Here the Ernestina-Morrisey is nearing final completion. Launch is to be sometime in August. But the staff is not committing to anything more definitively than that. But given that they have been working on the boat for over seven years, and in last years tour of the boat (see post here, scroll down to end of post) it was forecast that launch would be in spring time, then I will take at least a seemingly confident "next month" plan seems reasonable.

The cover is off.

And the propeller, a high tech folding prop, is installed.

And the mast and ..........

....... booms are ready. The boom is the horizontal piece that extends from the mast that holds the bottom of the sail - and it's 70 feet long!

I couldn't get on the ship like we did last year as the ownership has been transferred to the Massachusetts Maritime Academy and they are restricting access - understandable but disappointing. I did tour the shop.

Here you can see the sign for the old name of the shipyard.

If floors could talk, the tales it would tells I'm sure.

Some big machines.

And some real nice work if even at at much smaller scale.

This handsome yacht is to be hauled this evening with the high tide for some work.

And the view from the shipyard dock.

And a different view of Perelandra from the town dock.

And we are treated to a colorful end of day, after my ice cream, Java Chip, of course!

So it must be time to say ....................

Good Night and May God Bless
