Day 4 Dix Island

Day 4 Dix Island

Nice easy ride from Tenants. Only about 10 miles

Day promised some mix of sun and clouds
Had fog at times but not too thick and not for too long.

We joined up with six other boats from the Downeast Yacht Club and will cruise together for the next several days.

Arrived at Dix late morning and day was cloudy as can be seen in photos below.

Dix Island and High Island (top photo) are sites of substantial rock quarry efforts. Just to look at the stone wharf gives some sense that the folks that worked hard here did not cherish the location like we as fortunate boaters do.

Threats of showers and some talk of thunderstorms make us wonder if we will get in the planned potluck supper on the beach. But as you can see from the photos below the sun came out late afternoon and made for a great gathering on shore.

We are looking forward much to see Georgian Bay on Lake Huron during our Great Loop Trip but one thing that I will miss and the lakes do not have is tides. The changes through the day are amazing and wonderful to watch. The sun lit  photos of the shore were taken at low tide
