We were able to travel easily through our two locks today and make a total of 33 miles.

Wilson Lock is immediately in front of us as we leave the Florence Marina. I called the lock and heard, "This is your lucky day. Come on up and we'll get ya through"  So twenty minutes later we were looking at the open lock doors and green light and drove on in. It is the tallest look we have seen to date by a lot. We will rise 92 feet!!

Looking back at the lock doors

We need to get up there and over the gates

The Admiral doing work like the regular crew.

We made it to the top!!

And a way we go! And glad we called for the lock when we did cause there was a tow downbound that needed to have the lock raised - so we rode the raising of the lock for them. If we waited just a little longer we would have missed the up cycle and would have had an hour wait.

And the morning is cool enough to enjoy some coffee - very nice.

Wilson Lake is also very attractive - not as nice as Pickwick- but very nice

The distance to the next lock is only 14 miles. This is Wheeler Lock. We waited about 15 minutes for a tow to join us and we both locked through together. Again traveling alone has advantages as they don't like to lock PCs (us) and Commercial together - but he was small and we were one - so we both got to go. And we left first!!

See the barge in the lock?

The ride up Wheeler Lake was nice -but there are more homes. The City of Decatur is on this lake. We stopped just short of the city and anchored well off the channel in a little one boat cove. Think we "took" some locals spot as there were two 30 foot express boats that showed up milled around looking at us, and realizing we were down for the night, tore off to parts unknown.

Here are a few shots from our anchorage. The breeze was into our spot on the river so it was wonderfully comfortable even though the temperatures were in the low 90s. We stopped about noon time today that afforded a nice afternoon of football watching of week one games.

A panorama shows our nice spot quite nicely.

As you can see the night approaching - and is now here - so it is time to say ...................

Good Night and May God Bless
