Rob and Dawn visit on Boat August 20 to 22

The last hurrah of the season was a wonderful visit on the boat with son Rob and his beautiful wife (and our "daughter') Dawn.

Yes I hear you "Didn't leave someone out? Which granddaughter was there too?"

I was indeed truthful - it was only Rob and Dawn. We were thrilled to have time with only them. We tried to think when was the last time that happened and we all seemed to think it was over twenty years ago - before Madelaine was born. And a wonderful added bonus, this was their anniversary - 26 years! How did that happen!!!?? And for you trivia fans, they were married the same year we bought the boat. We even fit in their summer wedding with the boating schedule!!

The trip was our standard plan of cruise to Boothbay and fit in a stop at Burnt Island for a walk around the glorious outcropping.

Rob is captain for a day - an I didn't even need to turn the chart book upside down. (Inside story of learning to navigate eh, Ryan?) 

As you can see our stop at Burnt Island was on our way over to Boothbay. And another glorious day.

The weather has certainly made up for the huge washout of May and June. July and August is certainly in the running for the nicest stretch of summer weather we can recall on the boat.   

And the rope swing is still there!

The island is only about 700 feet across, but is always a stunning place to view the majesty of the blue ocean and the captivating seashore

And the scenes in Boothbay Harbor never disappoint. 

And what trip to BBH would be complete with out the necessary land sign photo op, eh Lauren?

What a surprise - ice cream!!

It was a wonderful time with our cubs. Heading back to the marina on Friday thus, last time to see the church on the hill for this year.

And to round Indian Point one more time.

Later in the day we all drove to Bath for an anniversary dinner at Maxwell's. It is always a good choice.

Faye and I stayed overnight on the boat and went home on Saturday. Faye needed to prepare for the coming week which was teachers in service days for the coming year. Yes, she is going back into teaching! She is thrilled about it. She will be teaching 3 and 4 graders at the school run as part of our church in Litchfield. I have not seen her this excited since ........ humm ........ I'll have to think about that one for awhile.

Saturday morning is beautiful. In recent years we have taken the boat to New Hampshire for the winter around the first of September, The trip is mostly in open water and thus it needs to be calm weather. So this coming weekend, weather permitting, will be our trip south - so some final shots around the marina.

As you can see the air is clear and it has a fall feel. So I guess it is fast heading to the end of the season. So .....
