Rockland to Turkey Cove Friday August 1

Today the clouds came in and the wind shifted to the north. The rain was on the weather map but should hold off until we are able to tour the  USS Arlington (LPD-24) FYI LPD  is  "landing platform docks" It's task is to support landing of Marines on a land assault.

Note the big helicopter pad on the stern.

And here is a photo showing the ability of the ship to sink to allow boats to be launched or recovered in the hold of the ship.

Malcolm Gibbs on right - our tour guide.

This is the "Tribute Room" for the 9/11 attack on the Pentagon.

This is the focsle where the anchor is deployed or retrieved. This is the Admiral's job on PERELANDRA. Thus the reason she wanted her picture with slightly larger anchor equipment.

Owls Head at head of Muscle Ridge Channel.

White Head Lighthouse at south end of Muscle Ridge Channel.

My favorite tree again on the approach to Port Clyde.

And Marshall Point Lighthouse.

It is raining when we anchor in Turkey Cove - enough with wise comments please.

We enjoyed having dinner on Chickadee III.

Rain is light in the now fully established night  so

Good Night and May God Bless
