Day 296 Cayo Costa State Park to Fort Myers Beach March 11, 2019

The night was again mild. The sun was again magnificently bright right from the start and stayed that way all day. Low 80s by mid-day. Another fine day.

The day was again simply magnificent. Warm and wonderful breeze. I must say that we never get this kind of day in Maine - let alone a string of them. The days can be nice but it will always take a while to warm and it cools in the evening much more - which can be good - but this weather has been perfect!!

We traveled the Gulf inter coastal. It is a path through the shallow water of the inter coastal areas. The channel is "deep enough" but at times is 5 to 6 feet and hardly over 10 anywhere, it is a lot different than in Maine on that score as well. But we did fine.

And look at that flat water - some nice traveling!!

Looking back to Cayo Costa Island

And you can see we are not the only ones using the route - and this is where we did get bounced by some wakes on a few passes of other powerboats who didn't feel the need to slow down.

We passed Sanibel Island with some real fine homes. Not sure it you can see much from this but there is a touch of money all along this coast.

The Sanibel Bridge

The light on the south end of Sanibel Island

This is the entrance to Fort Myers Beach

There is a large protected area behind the barrier beach.

And yes there are tourist boats of all shapes and speeds - this one played around us in the open water.

The Town maintains about 80 moorings on a first come first serve basis. We were told to take one on the south end of the field - which is fine as we have a nice view of the nearby mangroves.

After finding our way to the office to register it was time to explore the town.

It has the real vacation spot feel

And then we found the 'Beach" Wow can you say people. If you remember past photos of beaches we have seen - this one tops the "crowded" charts. But folks seemed to really be enjoying the weather as much as we are. The two photos below are taken from the pier.

And here is the pier!

And here we are on the pier

And it was time for dinner. Seaside dining - some fun.

And here is something I have never had - a Shrimp Burger!! Yes it is all shrimp slightly diced and formed into a patty and fried. Yum it was very good - and a nice tangy sauce to really bring out the favor.

More places to eat - we will try a few.

After dinner we walked Main Street. Here is one place I would have never imagined would be here. It must be for all the Boston Red Sox fans that come for spring training in Fort Myers.

And there is a large fleet to go find my shrimp for my next meal!!!

As you can see this boat is named Southern Faith - I would say that is a great name given the condition of the boat.

And for my "I Spy" fans that I have neglected for a while here is a great one.
How many "pirates" do you count (count the skeletons too) and you need to look close as there is a trick they threw us.

And here is our mooring - remember that we have a nice view of the nearby mangroves to the south of the mooring field.

As night has fallen, and Faye has won her fourth straight game of Mexican Train, it is definitely time to say .................

Good Night and May God Bless
