Day 302 Fort Myers Beach 7th day Sunday March 17, 2019

Day 302 Fort Myers Beach 7th day Sunday March 17, 2019

The night was again mild. Today the sun was again playing peek a boo with the clouds most of the day. The sun had the upper hand while we were hiking. And still the air was wonderfully mild all day with temperatures in the high 70s.

Today we had planned to travel to Fort Myers for a look around. But the bus schedules are far less efficient on Sundays and a 10 mile trip would take 2 hours - with many connections - so we decided to go to Lovers Key State Park and hike the trails.

We took the Island Trolley bus to the park.  We hiked the Black Island trail. About a 4 mile total walk from the bus stop.

If you look at the map you can see the trail that makes a big loop that follows the mangrove upland that makes a 180 turn. It was a very nice hike. The mangroves look like one of those mazes you take your pencil and try find your way through.

In case you were wondering we didn't go swimming. Must obey the regulations says Admiral Faye.
By the way, how do they know there is only one alligator in there?

There were nice views all around the trail. There we also many kayakers and even paddle boarders. Given the sign above. I would not be inclined to do any paddle boarding here, would you?

Hard to see but there is a large school of snook where the ripples are located.

This osprey was quite noisy when we passed by. It is so strange to hear them here as it is a very familar sound from home in Maine and I have to remind myself that boating season is still a dream in Maine.

And if you recall several days ago I mentioned the Shamrock and noted my surprise at seeing it here. Well happy St Paddy's Day!! Seems that today it is the place to be.

And the Admiral made another fine chicken dinner tonight. And with a great internet connection it was another night of watching an Endeavor episode.

The darkness has once again dimmed the lights here in Fort Myers Beach so time to say ........

Good Night and May God Bless
