Day 138 Chattanooga to Franklin TN Thursday October 4, 2018

A beautiful day start to finish.  Temperatures were mid 60s to low 90s.

Today was focused on getting things done so we could be in Franklin, TN this evening for a concert by Andrew Peterson, a singer/songwriter whom we have been enjoying for a number of years. We saw him once in NH several years ago. He had a new album out this spring and we found out he would be playing with a full band tonight - so this was a big part of our reason for getting to Chattanooga when we did and renting a car for most of the week.

But before we left for Franklin, we knew we had to move the boat as the dock we were on was booked for a special event hosted for marina customers. We moved to a slip just down the river. You can just see our blue top in the photo below. If you notice, the slips are perpendicular to the shore. With the current of the river it was no small job to get it in slip - but we did.

The photos above was taken from the restaurant that overlooks the slips.

Our drive was about 3 hours so we left right after lunch. Franklin is a small town that has sprawled into a population of 75,000. We always enjoy seeing the downtown of a city so we had dinner there.  The Main Street was alive and well - unlike many other towns and cities we have seen.

We even found a parking spot right on Main St as you can see below.

And it was in front of the Irish Pub that we eventually decided was our place to dine for the evening.

And across the street was the Franklin Theater that looked like it had some heavy use from movies to concerts.

The spire you can see in the above photo is the historic Presbyterian Church

A walk down Main Street was fun. A lot of boutiques and restaurants - that all had a goodly number of folks visiting them.

And as you can see the historic looking Main Street has been recognized as just that.

The end of the Main Street has a beautiful tall monument.

The monument was to those that fought in the Civil War. As I have said before, I hope that these such monuments never be removed as they help us understand our history and reflect on the lessons of our past. The soldiers lost on both sides were equally missed and denied a full measure of time - just as our soldiers continue to face, and some fall victim to, wars even to this day.

And right across the street is the Courthouse for those that need a little help straightening out the twists and turns of life.

And finally we attended Andrew Peterson's concert that we thoroughly enjoyed. When we saw him in NH he was solo, and while good, the full band (piano is to the left out of frame) provides so much more of an enjoyable experience.

We wisely got a room for this evening so we didn't have to drive back tonight. And I need my beauty rest for the drive back tomorrow so that means that it is time to say ...........

Good Night and May God Bless
