We enjoyed a pleasant night in our anchorage. It was a cool night and great for sleeping.  Sunrise was awesome as you can see.

The high clouds hint of the potential for some rain on Saturday.

This is Heflin  Lock which is about 10 miles from our anchorage.

We pulled on in and were down in short order. About a 30 foot drop. We have only two more locks to go and we will be in the tides!!!

Our distance today was about 60 miles. We arrived in Demopolis about 2:15. It was an easy and pleasant ride. The river was tree lined nearly the entire way with only few locations of houses along the river.

There were several locations of white stone bluffs. Not sure what the stone was but assume it was some sort of limestone. The location shown above was upriver of the Town of Epes and the one below was at the Town.  I had heard of the white cliffs of Epes and here they are. They were dramatically different geology from the rest of the river and made us wonder what the cause might be.

More of the typical river scene.

Demopolis Marina is the last good marina before Mobile, 216 miles away. It is a surprisingly large marina given the apparent lack of marinas for a number of miles. The fuel dock is shown below. It serves pleasure boaters and tow boats as well.

The fuel dock is just down stream of the actual marina location a stone's throw upstream from the fuel dock. Here is the entrance to the dockage area.

If you look close you will see a dog napping on this boat - truly a dog's life. And if they get to ride around on a boat and be fed on a regular basis, why would a dog not be "man's best friend?"

Jim and Justine are here on Knight's Kingdom. We met them at the spring Great Loop rendezvous and this was the first time to see them on the Loop. A dinner at the Bistro in town was most enjoyable.

And since it get dark at 7:00 it definitely is now night and it is time to say .................

God Night and May God Bless
